Please note there is no longer a Case Study 1 because the facility featured is now closed.

    Case Study 1

The SecAnim facility safely disposes of Category 1 MBM produced from onsite rendering and external sources utillising fluidised bed combustion technology. The fluidised bed provides complete destruction of pathogens and protein.

    Case Study 2

Products derived from higher risk Category 1 and 2 ABP have limited applications and their use is forbidden in feed for farmed animals kept for the production of meat, milk and eggs.

    Case Study 3

EFPRA commissioned carbon and water footprint studies of products derived from animal by-products (ABPs) used as feed ingredients. The studies compare meals, fats and oils made from ABPs with plant-based sources of fat and protein used for feed.

    Case Study 4

EFPRA commissioned two nutritional studies at Wageningen University to investigate the benefits of using PAPs in poultry and pig diets and to obtain up to date nutrient content and digestibility values for these products.

    Case Study 5

By carefully segregating by-products from cattle, pig and fish, high value components are converted into specialised niche pharmaceutical products for medical treatments and dietary supplements for humans.

    Case Study 6

QExtend is a fibrated protein derived from pork or beef-based plasma edible co-products. This revolutionary new ingredient can increase the valorisation of existing meat products by replacing up to 25% of the meat.

    Case Study 7

Wastewater from the processing of animalby-products (ABP) is produced when water is evaporated from the ABP during processing.
